Raising awareness of academic freedom – An online event by Scholars at Risk Italy with students from the University of Padova
An online event is organized to support a petition on behalf Dr. Ahmadreza Djalali and Dr. Niloufar Bayani, two Iranian scholars who are facing unjust restrictions and imprisonment in Iran and have been sentenced to death.
The panel will feature Senator Luigi Manconi (founder of A Buon Diritto Onlus) and Annunziata Marinari (Amnesty International Italia) as respondents. The Vice-rector of the University of Padova, Alessandro Paccagnella, will welcome participants.
Planned in the framework of the first Advocacy Seminar on Academic Freedom held at the University of Padua (March-June 2020), this event is organized by students of the ‘European and Global Studies’ Master Degree.
When: June 30, 17 to 18.30
The event is open to all interested parties and will be held in Italian, on Zoom

The Advocacy Seminar on Academic Freedom promotes the mission and values of Scholars at Risk (SAR), an international network of over 500 academic institutions from 40 different countries, including Italy, that raises awareness to promote academic freedom worldwide. The University of Padova is part of the SAR network, and, in cooperation with the University of Trento, oversees the coordination of the Italian Section of SAR.
